2 Ways to Close a Program that is Not Responding

In Windows®, every once in a while a program might freeze up on you. There are two ways you can close a program that is not responding. Next time a program freezes up on you, try one (or both) of the following methods:



Option 1 (May take longer for the program to close, if at all.)

  1. Push Ctrl-Alt-Del.

  2. You should a list of programs that are running.

  3. Highlight the stalled program in the list.

  4. Click "End Task".


Option 2 (For programs that just won't close.)

  1. Push Ctrl-Alt-Del.

  2. You should see the program in the list.

  3. Don't click the "End Task" button.

  4. Instead, right-click on the name of the program you want to close.

  5. Then click "Go To Process".

  6. Now you should see a list of more "processes" that are running on your computer.

  7. Your program should be highlighted at this point.

  8. Click "End Process".
